Homework
Homework is mainly set by the class teacher and can be for a variety of reasons:
– to support the learning that is taking place in lessons
– to develop skills required for independent learning
– to create opportunities for creativity and choice
Sometimes homework will be set for the whole school e.g. for a fundraising activity or for a specific topic such as Christmas. There are also times when the pupils have a longer period of time to complete a project and this will often be over a school holiday.
Early Years: Homework is set on a Friday and due in on a Thursday. One piece will be set each week and pupils are also expected to read regularly.
Year 1: Homework is set on a Thursday and due in on a Tuesday. One piece will be set each week and pupils are also expected to read regularly.
Year 2: Homework is set on a Thursday and due in on a Tuesday. One piece will be set each week and pupils are also expected to read regularly and practice their times tables.
Year 3: Homework is set on a Wednesday and due in on a Tuesday. One piece will be set each week and this will alternate between English and Maths. Pupils are also expected to read regularly, practice their times tables and learn their spellings.
Year 4: Homework is set on a Thursday and due in on a Wednesday. One piece will be set each week and this will alternate between English and Maths. Pupils are also expected to read regularly, practice their times tables and learn their spellings.
Year 5: Homework is set on a Wednesday and due in on a Monday. Two pieces will be set each week, one for English and one for Maths. Pupils are also expected to read regularly, practice their times tables and learn their spellings.
Year 6: Homework is set on a Wednesday and due in on a Monday. Two pieces will be set each week, one for English and one for Maths. Pupils are also expected to read regularly, practice their times tables and learn their spellings.
